Here I have submitted a wide range of my work done in the past year. I have tried to incorporate a wide range of techniques including illustration work, photography, advertising, and typography.
Most of the work I have submitted I created during my foundation art and design year but some pieces I completed in my spare time after the course was finished. I am very interested in typography, particularly any un-conventional type and have tried to portray this in my portfolio, as well as my photographic and illustrative skill. It is important for me to take an interest in all areas of graphic design, as many ideas cannot be achieved through one media.
As a young child growing up art and design was always my strong point, particularly drawing being my first hobby, as I grew older I became more interested in other areas of art, and found a passion for photography, which lead on to my passion for poster design and following onto a love for typography and design. With music being another hobby of mine, I have an appreciation for album artwork and an interest in producing album artwork of my own.
Because of this, I decided that a graphic design course would be best suited for me, after hearing of the reputation of Manchester Met and being fond of the city itself, I decided to apply. This course really stood out to me, after its reputation, particularly because it seemed like a course that would offer me the freedom to experiment and challenge ideas and perceptions and maximise my technique and potential. I have little experience with moving image and animation and I look forward to experimenting more with this as I feel the future will be moving swiftly towards much more extensive use of moving image and animation. I am also very impressed after hearing that most of the tutors are practising artists, which I have never experienced before in an educational environment.

Final Major Project

These are all pieces involved in my final major project during my foundation art and design year. we were given an open brief and due to the highly publised final recession i worked around the the theme of money, creating different graphic pieces all to the be displayed in my end of year exhibition, which can be seen in the lowest photographs.
